《科学美国人》中文版停刊

10月份出版的《科学》（Scientific American中文版）发表公告称，由于“美方提出停止继续合作，根据原签定的合作协议，《科学》杂志（《科学美国人》中文版）2005年第10期为该刊的最后一期”。（链接）
至于为何会到这个地步，原因似乎比较复杂。有人说是体制问题和资金不能落实的问题；有人说是杂志的发行工作不够理想。
个人觉得，中国没有原创的高质量科普文章，是个很大遗憾，不然就不需要依赖于翻译别人的文章了。
Make the Right Moves

Careers in Science 是科学杂志的一个blog。很久以前，在上面看到过一个可能有参考价值的东西：
Only a few copies of the book were printed, but Making the Right Moves: A Practical Guide to Scientific Management for Postdocs and New Faculty may be downloaded for free from HHMI’s Web site. The book’s 200-plus pages provide information young scientists need to succeed in their careers, but that is hardly ever covered in grad school. The book’s chapters include, among others, “Obtaining and Negotiating a Faculty Position and Planning for Tenure,” “Defining and Implementing Your Mission,” “Staffing Your Laboratory,” “Time Management,” “Getting Funded,” “Getting Published,” and “Understanding Technology Transfer.”
我想大部分人反对运动员使用兴奋剂，因为这在某种程度上是作假。但是，如何对待学术圈里人使用兴奋剂的问题呢？
Dave Bacon 有个很有趣的帖子：Performance Enhanced Theorems (via: BarrosH ) 他讲：
Paul Erdos 是二十世纪一个伟大的数学家，令人惊讶地，他是超过1500篇论文的作者。他的多产在很大程度上依靠使用安菲他命，一种performance enhancing drug。我们能和针对运动员用药一样，说他在欺骗吗？他的“记录”他的“理论”会因此逊色吗？
