虽然不算激光研究的先驱，在普通公众间也没什么名气，但对我们这些后生后学，A.E. Siegman 教授却是鼎鼎大名，令人景仰。他的书《Lasers》，虽然出版于1986年，但可能依旧是最好的激光物理教科书。

无意中看到他在 CLEO 2004 会议上这个 Plenary Talk：Masers and Lasers: Looking back over 50 years。讲述激光发明的历史，读起来非常有趣，想象如果能在现场倾听，那将是多棒的经历啊。

最近才注意到 InnoCentive，很有趣的服务。他们主页上的自我介绍：

美国物理学会主办的物理评论在线档案数据库(PROA) 是物理学等领域内最主要的系列学术刊物数据库. 长期以来PROA的论文只提供其库内论文间的CrossRef. 最近PROA改版, 我发现它在论文引用方面已经有了很大的改进, 不仅扩展了引用的库, 而且还给出了年度引用数. 这两者对于评判论文影响都有很大的作用.

CiteULike is a free service to help academics to share, store, and organise the academic papers they are reading. When you see a paper on the web that interests you, you can click one button and have it added to your personal library. CiteULike automatically extracts the citation details, so there’s no need to type them in yourself. It all works from within your web browser. There’s no need to install any special software.

这个东西好象还不错，注册以后它会让你添加一个书签到浏览器里。以后每次你浏览某篇文献，点一下此书签，就可以把文献添加到你的个人文献库里去。你可以共享你的文献库，也可以把citation信息输出成bibtex格式的文档。刚试了一下，好象蛮方便的，但还有很多功能不熟悉，慢慢玩。:)
