Integrative Biology 131: General Human Anatomy. Fall 2005. Professor Marian Diamond. The functional anatomy of the human body as revealed by gross and microscopic examination. The Department of Integrative Biology offers a program of instruction that focuses on the integration of structure and function in the evolution of diverse biological systems. It investigates integration at all levels of organization from molecules to the biosphere, and in all taxa of organisms from viruses to higher plants and animals. The department uses many traditional fields and levels of complexity in forging new research directions, asking new questions, and answering traditional questions in new ways.

Search Engines: Technology, Society, and Business. The World Wide Web brings much of the world’s knowledge into the reach of nearly everyone with a computer and an internet connection. The availability of huge quantities of information at our fingertips is transforming government, business, and many other aspects of society. Topics include search advertising and auctions, search and privacy, search ranking, internationalization, anti-spam efforts, local search, peer-to-peer search, and search of blogs and online communities. The Instructor, Dr. Marti Hearst, is an associate professor in the School of Information at UC Berkeley, with an affiliate appointment in the Computer Science Division.

后知后觉,现在才知道 Zotero,一个 FireFox 浏览器扩展,帮助收集、管理、和引用研究资料。学习使用了一会儿,觉得很值得推荐。
1、自动从网页上抓取引用信息。支持大多数学术文献网站,甚至还包括 Amazon 这样的商业网站。这里有个支持网站列表,不过我试了下OpticsInfoBase,似乎并不行。
2、保存 PDF,文件,图片,链接和整个网页。
3、可灵活做注解,自动保存。
4、快速搜索。
5、类似播放列表的资料管理方式,包括标签、搜索保存。
6、提供扩展到其它网络工具和服务的平台。
7、直接在浏览器中运行。
8、输出格式化的引文。
9、免费、开源。
10、与 Microsoft Word 和 OpenOffice 集成。
11、多种语言支持。
12、有插件,可让 WordPress 支持 zotero。
用下来,唯一觉得不太方便的是资料保存在本地电脑,所以在家里就没法使用在单位收集的资源库。不过 Zotero 正在开发这方面的功能,未来,Zotero 将允许在任何地方访问资料库。
另一个不足之处是缺乏社会性,是单个人的资料收集,将来也会对此做些改进。
科学报道沙龙(前身是科学记者沙龙,格致之前提到过)将于2007 年11 月16 日在北京举行启动仪式。
科学报道沙龙是一个由科学传播工作者自愿组成的、旨在改善和丰富科学新闻报道并促进同行交流的公益性网络。沙龙以网站为依托,组织线上和线下的交流活动。
沙龙网站内容由以下几方面组成:每周更新的重要学术会议或学术活动预告、科学新闻业内资讯、新闻线索推荐、培训奖励或工作机会等;互动的供业务探讨和交流信息的留言板;世界科学记者联盟在线教程、科学传播电子指南、经过授权的科学家或记者的科学报道业务讨论文章等。沙龙线下活动原则上平均每两月一次,可根据届时的热点话题灵活确定,形式可以是交流研讨、集体采访、专家讲座或者专题培训。
