IF YOU think you have read this before, you have either picked up an old magazine or have just had a case of déjà vu. Up to 97 per cent of people have experienced that feeling of witnessing a recreation of something they have already seen, and now déjà vu itself has been recreated in the lab. The experiment could throw light not only on the possible causes of the phenomenon but also on the fundamental workings of human memory.

虽然不算激光研究的先驱，在普通公众间也没什么名气，但对我们这些后生后学，A.E. Siegman 教授却是鼎鼎大名，令人景仰。他的书《Lasers》，虽然出版于1986年，但可能依旧是最好的激光物理教科书。
无意中看到他在 CLEO 2004 会议上这个 Plenary Talk：Masers and Lasers: Looking back over 50 years。讲述激光发明的历史，读起来非常有趣，想象如果能在现场倾听，那将是多棒的经历啊。
光速是光的属性还是时空的属性？

这么大，艰深，和酷的问题，我是问不出来的。Chad Orzel 去参加一个作家集会，被一个女作家问到这个问题：
Is the speed of light a property of space-time, or a property of light?
按照我现有的理解，不变的光速确实应该是时空的属性。但是它叫“光速”，光的速度，大概只是历史遗留问题吧。
各位的看法？

那个作者假想了，如果费曼去微软面试，被问到这个问题，会怎么样？
