Dave Bacon刚刚公布了一个新的科学网站：SciRate.com。这是一个基于digg.com，arxiv，以及开放获取的网站。

据Bacon说，他之所以建这个网站，是因为arxiv中的论文越来越多，但是质量并不都那么好。从中找好的论文，是很费工夫的。比如通过关键字搜索，并不全面。通过引用率来找好的论文，又实在太慢了。利于SciRate中的投票系统，得票高的论文将排在前面，就象digg.com网站中的新闻排序规则一样。他相信，依靠这种人工的过滤系统，最后能够把好的论文给留下来。现在SciRate只覆盖了arxiv中的quant-ph部分，因为Bacon自己只读这部分的论文。他希望以后能够扩展到其它方向。

Grisha Perelman因arXiv的三篇预印文献解决Poincaré 猜想而获得了Fields Medal, arXiv对此事的反应是把Grisha Perelman的三篇文章放在首页. 这事这人都是前所未有~~!
