Publish or perish：发表或灭亡

王鸿飞有一篇 blog 叫：发表是硬道理。的确，如果要在学术圈里混，而且想混得像个人样，发表是第一重要。除非哪一天撒手不干，走人去工业界或者找其它出路（其实也不赖）。

他的帖子里提到一个程序 Publish or perish，一款以 Google Scholar 为基础的学术引文分析软件。觉得好玩，下载下来试了试，发现重名是个大问题。：）

我想如果有人能把它做成在线版本，作成一个网络服务，应该会很热门的。:D

网络与科学

科学网博客 => WordPress

hui 用 python 写了一个程序，可以把科学网博客上的文章下载为电子书，并导出到 WordPress。程序下载，以及使用说明都在 Google Code 上。

虽然科学网上有不少厉害的 bloggers，但它的 blog 系统似乎不怎么样。还有它的运作方式，新浪名人博客的翻版，我也不大感冒。

使用这个程序，科学网博客的作者就有办法把 blog 迁移到使用 WordPress 的 blog 服务。和 hui 一样，我也推荐 72pines，或者赛族（其实和 72pines 一起的）。当然，使用 WordPress 独立建站也很方便。

维度：数学漫步

Solidot 推荐了一部创作共用版权的数学科普电影：《维度：数学漫步》。各个章节适合不同年龄段学生。

《维度：数学漫步（Dimensions: a walk through mathematics）》是两小时长的CG科普电影，讲述了许多深奥的数学知识，如4维空间中的正多胞体、复数、分形（fractals）、纤维化理论（fibrations）等等。这部电影以创作共用署名-非商业用途-禁止演绎 3.0许可证发布，你可以自由下载和复制但不允许商业使用。电影介绍，预告片，可以通过HTTP或BT方式下载不同语言的版本（法语，英语，西班牙语和阿拉伯语），当然也可以花10欧元购买DVD（包括20页的小册子，并提供中文字幕在内的12种语言）。

在科学网看到有人贴出了 2007 期刊影响因子的 excel 文件。你可以从科学网下载，也可以从格致下载，看你哪边速度快了。

格致上贴过 2005 的期刊影响因子。

看了一下，期刊影响因子是这么算的：过去两年该杂志发表的文章在该年被引用的次数，除以过去两年该杂志发表的文章总数。所以 2007 年的影响因子，是 2005 和 2006 年该杂志发表的文章在 2007 年被引用的次数，除以 2005 和 2006 年该杂志发表的文章总数。

关于曼哈顿计划的广播剧

很久没有听广播剧这种东西了。看到 Motl 推荐了一个关于曼哈顿计划的广播剧：Atomic bombers。人物有：费曼，费米，Bethe, 奥本海默, Compton，等等。

下面说点不大相关的。王鸿飞在评论时特别引用了这段：

学术自由每每与其它形式的自由混淆。我们必须讲清楚，这里所说的是：建立一个环境，使创造性的思维变得可能。

他评论到：

我们常常看到很多学术上毫无创造的人，偏要别人尊重他的学术自由，反对真正的学术同行对其工作进行学术上的评判和检验，把学术自由作为保护非学术的自由，从而在事实上妨碍真正的学术创造的自由。

很多时候，大家在谈到学术自由的时候，往往都把事情想歪了。

接着他又开始评论好奇心：

笨蛋的好奇心

科学研究在很大程度上是好奇心驱动的研究，可是好奇心驱动的研究却远非科学研究。

真正有创造性的科学家和学者很有好奇心，可是他们的好奇心与笨蛋的好奇心非常的不同。

我在生活中常常发现笨蛋的好奇心往往是最强的。他们对于已知的知识没有学习和了解，怀疑精神总是用来针对正确的东西，对没有根据的奇谈怪论总是兴趣浓浓。

这种情况每每发生，常常弄得科学界的领导人不厌其烦地重申不能够随便地听任科学家去做兴趣驱动的研究。不了解的人还常常以为领导不尊重学术自由，我认为这其实是真正的污蔑和冤枉。

只有笨蛋才会觉得笨蛋应该有那么多自由，尤其是那些已经被证明了不能够创造的笨蛋和好奇心太多的笨蛋。

学术自由如果成了保护不学无术的自由，创造性不去见鬼才怪。

那些把“学术自由”常挂嘴边，“好奇心”用不对地方的人，就是俗称的“民科”了。

这本新书非常及时的总结了近年来热电材料领域的最近研究成果，对于从事该领域的研究人员非常有用。国家图书馆，中科院情报中心等似乎还没有引进这本书，网上能下载到PDF版本，里面只有图片没有文字，国外的朋友如果能够找到这本书的完整版本，帮小弟一个忙，我非常需要这本书。
